Mission, Vision, Goals & Objectives
College Mission
The College of Education enriches lives by advancing excellence in research and practice in education, leadership, and applied human arts and sciences (adopted January 27, 2005). The College of Education envisions being a leading, diverse, nationally recognized educational community. Together, our college community is achieving this vision through a culture of openness, innovation, and collaboration. Our caring faculty members and innovative curriculum are:
- Preparing professionals through integrated programs grounded in research
- Generating and evaluating knowledge through disciplinary and interdisciplinary scholarship
- Informing professional practice and community life through the exchange and utilization of knowledge
College Goals & Objectives
The college goals are based on multiple inputs, including recommendations of the External Consultation Team, and they focus on enhancing the quality of its programs, and increasing and focusing its scholarly activities and outreach efforts. The goals and objectives were adopted by the college faculty on May 3, 2005 and serve as the basis for program and college strategic and action plans:
Goal 1: Offer high quality research-based undergraduate and graduate education to prepare quality graduates for their workplace.
Objectives:
- Develop an enrollment management plan to attract and retain diverse high quality students
- Focus programs to align with college and university themes
- Build alliances within and outside the college to enrich our teaching.
Goal 2: Focus and increase scholarly efforts to impact human development, workforce development, and economic development in the state, region, and nation.
Objectives:
- Increase faculty scholarly productivity and quality to enhance prominence of faculty
- Increase external funding to support scholarly endeavors
- Establish and maintain visible research centers to advance knowledge, professional practices, and innovation in education and the human services.
Goal 3: Focus and enhance research-based service and outreach efforts to support educators and human service professionals across the state, region and nation.
Objectives:
- Increase development of research-based external partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Generate funding to reward and support faculty in service and outreach efforts.
