Select a class Your High school counselor can help you choose from a list of classes that will help fulfill high school graduation requirements as well as lay the foundation for an academic future.
For classes that require placement scores (like English, math, or chemistry) ACT, SAT, or COMPASS scores help determine which class you are qualified to take. If you have taken the ACT or SAT and find your scores unsatisfactory, placement may be challenged by taking the COMPASS English or math test and scoring higher. If you have not taken the ACT or SAT, COMPASS English and math tests are administered by the University of Idaho Counseling and Testing Center Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on a walk-in basis. Each test costs $15 (payable by personal check or money order) and takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. Contact the Counseling and Testing Center by calling (208) 885-6716 or visiting their office in the Continuing Education Building (CEB) Room 306. Photo ID is required.
Please Note: If you wish to take a University of Idaho math class offered through your high school, you are exempted from taking the math placement test.

Talk with your parent or guardian
Think about your future. Will taking university-level classes now help you make the transition into college life or should you explore other possibilities that lead to a future career? Does taking a class or classes at the university conflict with family schedules or high school extracurricular activities? If dual credit is definitely an option, you will have to make arrangements for transportation (i.e., getting to campus from home or high school). Taking dual credit classes is also a financial commitment. Since financial aid is not available to dual credit students, you will need to decide how to pay for classes you take at the University of Idaho.

Fees
State guidelines dictate class fees depending on how and where the class is offered. Fees and other charges are subject to change and are effective only when adopted by the University of Idaho Board of Regents (dollar amounts are listed for advisory purposes).
- Starting spring 2008, classes delivered on the Moscow campus are billed out at $65 per credit hour.
- Classes taught online or in a school district are billed out at $65 per credit hour.
Please Note: Many classes carry lab fees or special fees in addition to the per-credit-hour fees listed.
Once admitted, the Dual Credit Office will enroll you in your selected class(es) on a space-available basis, provided you have met class prerequisites.
A bill is generated. If this is your first time taking classes at the University of Idaho, a paper bill will be sent to the address noted on your application/registration form. If you took classes at the University of Idaho in a previous semester, an electronic bill will be sent to your Vandal Mail account (a paper bill will not be mailed).
The university will notify you and your high school counselor regarding acceptance and registration status.
Completed classes and grades will be shown on a University of Idaho non-degree transcript (see the section on Grades and Transcripts).
Refunds
Because dual credit courses are offered at a reduced rate of $65 per credit hour, there are no refunds made to students after the posted first day of the course.
