The
Office of Human Rights, Access and Inclusion focuses on practices that make all members of the UI community feel welcome, wanted, accepted, respected and supported. Chief amongst these practices is providing professional and authoritative advice with respect to University matters that concern access and inclusion in all aspects of the university, in particular representation in the classroom and in the workplace that is reflective of the broad diversity of people, ideas and perspectives that is the United States and the world. The Office also has one set of responsibilities addressing and redressing of issues related to discrimination and harassment. The Director and co-Chief Diversity Officer, who reports to the President, is a member of the Cabinet and the Executive Leadership Council - oversees those issues. In addition, the Director and co-Chief diversity officer manages general diversity and equity issues in the role of the university’s Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Officer by ensuring compliance, reporting and enforcement in the areas of employment practices, equal and equitable educational opportunities and the discrimination and harassment of students, faculty and staff.
