Latinx Heritage Month
Latinx Heritage Month started in the 1960s to commemorate Mexico’s independence, U.S. citizenship and Puerto Rico's Independence Day. All month long, we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Latinx community in the U.S., past and present.
During Latinx Heritage Month, U of I hosts leaders from around the region to speak about their experiences in civic engagement, political empowerment and advocating for human rights.

Latinx Heritage Month Keynote Address & Performance featuring Olmeca

Olmeca, hip-hop artist, producer, scholar, and activist, will deliver this year’s keynote address. Join us as Olmeca interweaves performance and dialogue as he examines notions of identity and “belonging.”
Friday Crafternoon: Mola Art
Noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29
Join the Women’s Center to create paper Mola designs. Mola is a hand-made textile art form that originates from the indigenous Guna people from Panama and Columbia. Sponsored by the Women’s Center.

University of Idaho student, Alexandro Aguilar, will be giving a lecture recital on the traditional music of Mexico and the piano works of Manuel Maria Ponce, an influential but often overlooked romantic era composer from Mexico. Sponsored by the Lionel Hampton School of Music.
