ANCHOR SPLASH
Each year during the fall semester, the women of Delta Gamma Nu chapter hold our main fundraiser, Anchor Splash.  Anchor Splash is an event with complete chapter participation and is one of the favorite activities of Delta Gamma members and new members.  This is our annual swim meet in which living groups participate in competitive events such as synchronized swimming and relays in order to obtain the Anchor Splash trophy.  Money was raised by charging an entrance fee of forty-five dollars for each male or female participating living group.  T-shirt sales and a spaghetti feed added to the profits.  Proceeds are donated to the Lilac Blind Foundation, Delta Gamma Foundation, and the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind for sight conservation.

SOUP LABELS AND EYE GLASSES
In addition to Anchor Splash, Nu chapter supports the national Delta Gamma Foundation by collecting Campbell soup labels for the Labels for Education Program.  Once collected, these labels are sent to Richmond, Virginia to supply much needed equipment and supplies to three Delta Gamma schools for children with visual disabilities located in Denver, Los Angeles, and St. Lois.  Nu chapter involves the entire University of Idaho Greek system in this program by asking each sorority or fraternity cook on campus to participate by saving there labels.  Alumnae are also very generous by supporting this worthwhile endeavor.  Nu Chapter of Delta Gamma collected 7,159 labels during 2002.

Delta Gamma also collects old and used eyeglasses for New Eyes for the Needy.  The glasses we collect are donated to less fortunate children and adults with visual disabilities in the United States and in over 30 developing nations.  In 2002, Nu chapter collected over 484 pairs of eyeglasses.

VISION SCREENING
Every spring, Nu Chapter visits local elementary schools to teach children about eye safety for our Eye Safety Alert Week.  In spring 2002, we spent a week at Lena Whitmore Elementary, McDonald Elementary, Russell Elementary and West Park Elementary Schools to teach second and third graders how to protect and take care of their eyes.  We provide the children with other important information through an exciting video geared for children and discussion.  The children then receive a certificate showing they completed the Eye Safety Alert program.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY PROGRAM
Delta Gamma is proud to be a part of the Adopt-a-Highway Program.  Our two mile stretch, mile marker 340 to marker 342, is located on U.S Highway 95 between Moscow and Lewiston and is cleaned two times a year.  This is another all house event where Delta Gamma is eager to be a part in community involvement.

CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
Nu chapter is very supportive of many philanthropies on the University of Idaho campus.  In the past year members have participated in Sigma Chi Derby Days, Phi Kappa Tau Watermelon Bust, Phi Delta Tau Turtle Derby, Sigma Nu Shootout, Alpha Kappa Lambda Akles’n’Shakles, Beta Theta Pi Haunted House, Delta Delta Delta Softball Game, and Alpha Tau Omega Easter Egg Hunt.

GOLDEN ANCHOR PROGRAM
The Golden Anchor Program is a national Delta Gamma program designed to assist senior citizens who reside in health care facilities. Nu Chapter travels to the Good Samaritan Village in Moscow to play bingo, go on walks and visit with the residents. We also have had ornament decorating parties in December and help host an Easter egg hunt in the Spring.

Delta Gamma women are very involved on campus by participating in St. Jude’s Up ‘Till Dawn, Paint the Palouse, Saturday of Service, Rotaract and Psi Chi.
