Meningococcal disease, or meningitis, is potentially life threatening. It develops very rapidly and can be fatal to a previously healthy person in a matter of hours.
Public colleges and universities in Idaho do not require immunizations to enter school. However, the meningitis vaccine is a strongly recommended immunization by the University of Idaho Student Health Clinic, and it is particularly important for students living in residence halls, university housing facilities and living groups. Many college students are unprotected. Contact the Student Health Clinic at 208-885-6693 with any questions or to ensure you are up to date with recommended vaccines.
