Serving Your New Community

Serving Your New Community (SYNC) is a volunteering opportunity to facilitate the connection between incoming students and their new community. Students have the chance to volunteer with community partners in various locations throughout the Palouse to learn about their new community, see more of their new surroundings, and meet other incoming students.

Saturday Aug. 20, 2016

Session I: 9-11:30 a.m.
Session II: 1-3:30 p.m.

Depending on the session they are attending, students will meet their volunteer group at either 8:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. on the Theophilus Tower Lawn to receive their community partner assignments. Groups depart to service locations at various times. Volunteers will arrive by bus, van or on foot.

Students are encouraged to wear close-toed shoes and bring water with them.

Register as a Community Partner

Community partners within a 30-minute drive of Moscow are encouraged to host students. We ask that you have the capacity to host a minimum of 10 students and provide all necessary supplies (gloves, shovels, rakes, etc.) to volunteers.

Sites can host students in the morning, afternoon or both sessions. Community partners can provide transportation for volunteers to assist in an efficient volunteering experience.

This is a rain-or-shine event. If you have any questions, please reach out to volunteer@uidaho.edu.

Serving Your New Community

In fall 2015, Vandals put in more than 2,600 hours at 54 sites in the Moscow community and beyond.
