Meet Our Student Staff

Wieteke Holthuijzen, UI Sustainability Center Director

Originally a Boise native, Wieteke is a senior at the University of Idaho working towards a degree in Environmental Science (with a little bit of French on the side for fun!). When she isn't busy studying, Wieteke loves being in the Great Outdoors, often hiking, biking, rock climbing, and camping. She is an avid birder and has a taste for adventure. Wieteke joined the UISC team in the fall of 2011 and now leads the center by continuing the development of sustainable programs and initiatives at the University and supporting UISC student staff.

Brita Olson, Event Coordinator

Brita is a junior studying Ecology and Conservation Biology with a minor in Spanish. She is "fired up" with worldly ideas and excited to put them to work as the Events Coordinator at the UISC. When she's not keeping busy with classes, research, and long philosophical talks - she loves getting outdoors and back to nature (whether it be the backcountry or a little spot of sunshine on the Palouse).

David Daigle, Web Coordinator, Tech Support Specialist

David is a sophomore at the University of Idaho studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. A Poulsbo, Washington native, he enjoys spending time outdoors year round, whether it’s snowboarding during the winter, or rock climbing and backpacking throughout the summer. At UISC he is responsible for repairing computers during a crisis and keeping the office technology up to date. His information technology skills also translate into his day to day life where he spends much of his time fixing friends’ computers for fun.

Emily Rankin, Recycling Coordinator

Emily is a sophomore studying Environmental Science, International Studies, French, and American Indian Studies. She is from West Michigan, right on the Lakeshore. She came to Idaho because she thinks it is one of the most beautiful places in the country. Emily loves to go hiking, which she tries to do as much as possible. She also enjoys reading and going to the beach, when she’s not volunteering with Planned Parenthood. Emily’s biggest passions are conservation and women's rights.

Kaitlyn Martin, Volunteer Coordinator

Kaitie, our volunteer coordinator here at the UISC, is a junior at the University of Idaho studying Public Relations. She is from Sacramento, California but has made a place for herself here in Moscow. With her bubbly and fun personality, she enjoys staying busy with sports in her free time, including playing volleyball for the club team on campus and coaching soccer for the community.

Kyle Richards, Marketing Coordinator

From Idaho Falls, Kyle is a first generation college student pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design. His job is to continue developing and promoting sustainable programs across the university community. Kyle thrives on team building and communication for pushing projects to their fullest potential. In his spare time, he enjoys blogging, listening to music, and spending time with his close friends and family.

Nicholas Wolf, Marketing Coordinator

Nick is a senior at the University of Idaho majoring in Studio Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design. He has a passion for design, especially industrial and product design with a focus on repurposed materials. He is excited to be applying his talents to help promote the Sustainability Center and its events. When he is not in the studio or behind the computer screen, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and watching movies.

Stevie Steely, Project Coordinator

Starting as a Work Study for the Sustainability Center, Stevie is now our Projects Coordinator. Stevie is seeking a degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Chemical Addictions. When she isn’t busy with school and work she enjoys hiking, fishing and riding her bike.

Nick Lodato, Recycling Intern

Nick is currently a senior here at the University and is studying Business Management/HR, with an emphasis in Management. At the Sustainability Center he works as the team's Recycling Intern and is working to promote the new and improved recycling program at the Kibbie Dome. His home town is Kent, Washington and when he is not working or attending classes, Nick enjoys hiking, working out, playing any and every sport, skiing, and traveling.

Jeannie Matheison, Sustainability Program Advisor

Jeannie contributes to a variety of programs, including: the UI Sustainability Center, small business energy efficiency, campus food systems, marketing, and communications. She has ten years of sustainability experience working in county, non-profit and university arenas. Jeannie has a B.A. from Washington State University in Environmental Policy. She is dedicated to helping U-Idaho achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, in part by strengthening a culture of sustainability and efficiency at U-Idaho.

Adria Mead, Sustainability and Student Engagement Coordinator

Adria has worked for the Sustainability Center for the last 6 years on campus wide sustainability projects and initiatives. In addition to her work on campus she has also served on the City of Moscow Sustainable Environment Commission. Adria has a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Idaho. She is an Idaho native and enjoys the exploring the outdoors, playing soccer and cooking.
