Community, Campus & Student Projects

Addressing the needs of communities while preparing students to succeed in a rapidly changing world, community-based student projects transform the university’s research and teaching into useful, tangible results around the state. Through internships, service-learning classes or volunteer activities and interdisciplinary learning experiences will students develop the ability to identify and address complex problems and opportunities.

We can help COMMUNITIES by:

  • Developing service-learning, internship and student volunteer projects
  • Gathering and analyzing information
  • Making connections with UI Extension and other faculty
  • Partnering on grant proposals


We can help the UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO FACULTY AND STAFF by:

  • Recruiting volunteers for community or sustainability activities
  • Linking students and courses with community projects for service-learning classes, capstone courses, internships and volunteer opportunities
  • Coordinating and managing interdisciplinary grant proposals


We can help UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO STUDENTS by:

  • Providing mini-grant funding for projects focused on sustainability or community engagement
  • Linking you with a variety of community- or campus-based volunteer, service-learning, and internships opportunities
