Bulk e-mail is defined as any University of Idaho e-mail communication sent to large groups of prospective students, alumni, or donors. If done correctly, e-mail is a powerful tool.

Plain Text


  • Words; no images, stylized text, or hyperlinks
  • Most accepted format for majority of email service providers 
  • Limited analytics
  • Used for:
    • Urgent communications
    • Audiences with strict firewall settings (in some cases certain school districts or security companies)
  • NOT an image embedded in the body of an email sent through Outlook
  • Customized communication utilizing design principles and elements to evoke a call to action through actionable links
  • Developed and distributed via specialized software with the capability of collecting analytics
  • Used for communications with prospective
  • students, alumni, and donors
