What are the credit requirements?

Is funding available?
Assistantships are not available for PSM students at this time. However, other forms of financial aid may be available. To speak with someone in the UI Financial Aid Office, call (208) 885-6312.

When is the best time to apply?
Applications should be received by July 15 for fall admission, and by Nov. 15 for spring admission. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

What is the GPA requirement?

An undergraduate GPA of 3.0. is required.

Do I need to take the GREs?
The GRE is not required. However, it is strongly recommended for international students that have a low GPA.

Can the PSM be completed at a distance?
Four tracks can be completed entirely at a distance: Environmental Contamination, Sustainability Science, Ecohydrology, and Water Resources. All four of the required professional skills courses are online. Please note that online courses are charged a $35/credit fee on top of the standard course fees.

Can I transfer in graduate credits from another institution or UI program?
Any graduate student can transfer in 12 credits of graduate coursework from another institution with the approval of the director of the program

Will I have deficiency courses to take if I do not have an undergraduate background in the biological, environmental, or natural resource sciences, or fields closely related to these sciences?
Possibly. These will be discussed on a case-by-case basis with the program director. Track prerequisites are listed at the bottom of each degree track web page.
