When to Apply
Students normally begin their studies in the fall semester, which starts in late August. Applications should be received by February 1 to be considered for financial support.
Review of Applicants
Applications are reviewed by prospective major professor as indicated by the applicant either by name or by matching research interests mentioned in the letter of intent. The Graduate Affairs Committee (GAC), composed of Neuroscience faculty elected for this purpose, then reviews the applications of students approved by potential major professors.

Transfers from other U-Idaho programs

Any current UI graduate student with Neuroscience faculty as their major professor may apply to the Neuroscience Program at any time, but are held to the same standards as new applicants. The Neuroscience GAC will review all applications for the criteria described above, and in addition will review the students UI graduate transcript and curriculum vitae for evidence of satisfactory progress toward a graduate degree, to include graduate-level coursework in Neuroscience or Neuroscience-related areas and a chosen research emphasis in Neuroscience or a Neuroscience-related area.

The GAC will recommend one of the following:

  • Acceptance into the program with no changes to study plan
  • Acceptance with the following changes to study plan
  • No acceptance
