Meet Tom Prewitt

Tom Prewitt is a military veteran. He was a member of the Army's 101st Airborne Division when it was the first U.S. Army unit to enter the Afghanistan war zone in 2002 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

During his military service, Tom sustained permanent disability to his knees and ankles, and he was exempted from active duty.

Now, a pioneering, one-of-a-kind scholarship at the University of Idaho has helped Tom redefine his opportunities - and achieve his goals.

The Operation Education Scholarship program assists wounded members of the U.S. military earn a college degree. It's a matter of "They've served us, now let us serve them."

Tom is the University of Idaho's first Operation Education alumnus. He received his bachelor's degree in wildlife resources at May Commencement ceremonies with his wife, Andrea, and their son, Logan, cheering his success.

He now is working as a wildlife habitat biologist for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe in Plummer.
