M.S. Environmental Science at a Distance

The Environmental Science Program offers a 30-credit, non-thesis M.S. degree in Environmental Science at a distance. Students complete 26 credits of coursework, followed by a four credit project on a topic of their choice.

The program is designed for place-based students who are unable to attend the Moscow campus. With an online, self-paced (part-time or full time) format, the program is ideal for working professionals looking to expand their skill set, and career options, through a graduate degree.

Most courses are offered online, with others offered through video and independent study. Applicable courses may be taken through Engineering Outreach at the 400- and 500-level. The University of Idaho also has centers in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Falls and Boise. Students in those areas are welcome to enroll in live courses offered at the centers.

The M.S. curriculum can be combined with certificate programs in Water Science, Restoration Ecology, Environmental Contamination, Fire Ecology, GIS, and more.

The application deadline is June 1 for fall admission and November 15 for spring admission, though we accept applications on a rolling basis. We do not accept applications for summer admission.
