Departmental Requirements

Departmental Requirements

The following are the departmental requirements that students need to satisfy in addition to the general admission requirements for domestic and international applicants.

Students planning to apply for work leading to a graduate degree should contact the department in which they wish to major before submitting the application for graduate admission.

Please note: a few of the graduate programs have forms for the letters of recommendation. If the program you are applying for does not have a form listed here, then they do not have a form for the letter writer to fill out. Please check the Printable Applications & Forms page for the programs that do have a letter of recommendation form.

Your file will not be sent to the department for review until all required documents have been received by the Graduate Admissions Office. If you are currently enrolled in a college or university, you need to submit a current transcript that shows all work completed thus far. If you have or are currently attending the University of Idaho you do NOT need to order UI transcripts, the graduate admissions office will secure University of Idaho transcripts for you.

Note: The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a requirement for applicants whose native language is not English. All applicants are required to take the Graduate Records Examination (GRE). The University of Idaho Institution Code for both the TOEFL & GRE is 4843.

The priority application deadlines are as follows:

Fall Semester (Aug. to Dec.) - February 1

Spring Semester (Jan. to May) - September 1

Summer Term (begins mid-May) - February 1

*For departmental deadlines please follow the link on the left side menu.

The Graduate Admissions Office is not permitted to give out information, without written authorization, to anyone other than the applicant. Please submit a written authorization with your application if you want someone specific to be given information regarding your admission status.
