Taylor Ranch Field Station has a small airstrip. Airstrip use is restricted to authorized field station users, typically people engaged in research, education, or station management activities. The airstrip is not open to public use. All users must obtain permission to use the airstrip and schedule flights in advance with Taylor Wilderness Research Station Managers at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Public airstrips three miles east (Soldier Bar) and six miles northwest (Cabin Creek) from Taylor provide wilderness access for recreational visitors not associated with Taylor’s programs.
- The easiest way to get to Taylor Ranch is by airplane with experienced "backcountry" pilots.
- Backcountry air service is available from Cascade, McCall, Moscow- Pullman, Salmon, Challis, and Boise.
- Cessna 206 charters are available from Cascade, McCall, or Challis. A twin-engine Islander airplane is also available from Cascade and McCall for larger groups. Contact the aviation companies directly for for price quotes, as rates may be lower if your flight can be combined with other groups or if you are on a mail flight.
