Outreach & Extension

The Geospatial Laboratory for Environmental Dynamics is involved in a wide range of extension activities. These can be divided into three main components:

Forestry-remote sensing outreach (ForestPARC):
The ForestPARC component has been operating since 2003 and has been involved in a host of extension activities including the production of synthesis/review papers, the organization of workshops for regional and national stakeholders. and the organization of sessions at international scientific conferences.

Hosting of local and regional GIS/Remote Sensing Workshops for Land and Fire Managers:
This has included workshop for users and researchers on how to use LIDAR, in addition to working with our collaborators to host GIS/Spatial Analysis workshops within the UI CNR GIS Teaching Lab.\

Regional Presentations of how GPS and other equipment work to local and regional land managers:
Dr Paul Gessler has hosted a series of workshops on how to use GPS receivers to local managers and stakeholders.
