Crystal Strobl
Class of 2002 B.S. Wildlife Resources
Enterprise, Ore.
Wildlife Technician, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
“When I was a Bleak intern, the remote location of the Taylor Ranch Field Station allowed me to focus on my personal and career goals. I was given a chance to explore the connection between the ecosystems we are all a part of; this connection created a bond within me for the love of wildlife that I will always hold sacred. I remember being so full of questions, thirsting for the wisdom and experience of researchers such as Jim and Holly Akenson, scientists and managers of Taylor Ranch. They promoted responsible work ethics which are requirements for success in the natural resource field.
"Much of the field work is understanding the ecological process within the system, and the relationships between predator and prey. Taylor Ranch provided a unique opportunity to observe various wildlife interactions within a 'pristine' environment. Jim and Holly also guided my career towards the reality of concrete data collection, statistical analyses and research documentation. The Taylor Ranch experience is a valuable tool to prepare anyone interested in the natural resource field.”
