Description of Service:
- After training in San Diego, I served as a radioman on the USS Vancouver, a ship with a crew of 300 designed to carry troops (we moved 700 Marines at a time) and landing craft. We were en route to Vietnam when the cease-fire was signed in 1973. That event changed our mission; we were then tasked with removing mines from Haiphong Harbor.
- Spent two years in active duty, then four more years in active reserve while persuing my bachelor's
degree.
