Alice and Wade Allen: A Legacy of Learning
The impact a good education will have on a student’s future is tremendous. Alice and Wade Allen are committed to fostering this ideal in natural resource students.
Their gift of scholarship supporting students interested in forest resources stems from a legacy started by Alice’s father, Lester Woodward, and her uncle, Floyd Woodward. Both men supported her education financially and emotionally.
Now that both men have passed away, the Allens wanted to do something to honor them and the contributions they made to Alice and Wade’s lives.
“It was a natural decision for us to sponsor a scholarship at the University of Idaho, and it was important to us to name it after Dad and Uncle Floyd,” said Alice. “Also, the College of Natural Resources was a natural fit as the place for the scholarship, since both men had found lifelong work in the forest resources industry.”
Alice currently is academic program coordinator in the Idaho Falls Center for Higher Education at the University of Idaho, Idaho Falls campus.
