Suggested Program Outline

Day 1
  • Arrive Tuesday afternoon and receive orientation from MOSS host
  • Have dinner in town or on campus with MOSS host(s)
  • Stay at local hotel
Day 2
  • Morning - K-12 program “Meet the Scientist”. Provide a general 15-30 minute demonstration or program highlighting scientist’s research to 30-80 K-12 students, their teachers and parents.
  • Free time
  • Late morning into afternoon - Participate in a McCall “Research Opportunities Tour” hosted primarily by MOSS Researcher-in-Residence Dr. Jan Eitel and other MOSS faculty/staff as available. Lunch in town or sack lunch for trip.
  • Free time before dinner
  • Dinner in town or on campus with MOSS host(s)
  • Stay at local hotel
Day 3
  • Morning - research collaboration meeting with MOSS faculty and staff to explore future synergies and partnerships with the desired outcome of planning a potential joint research proposal.
  • Free time
  • Lunch in town with MOSS host(s)
  • Afternoon – Research seminar with K12 teachers facilitated by MOSS faculty/staff
  • Free time before dinner
  • Dinner in town or on campus with MOSS host(s)
  • Evening - “Science on Tap”. 15-20 minute research presentation at a local brewpub followed by a casual 1 hour Q&A/discussion with local community members.
  • Stay at local hotel
Day 4
  • Morning - Free time or additional event as needed (e.g. attend K12 research presentations)
  • Lunch with MOSS graduate students
  • Afternoon – research seminar with MOSS graduate students
  • Return to Moscow or stay and play in McCall for the weekend
