Get Into Science (GIS)

Click here to follow the adventure!

During this overnight program you will stay on the MOSS campus and learn about Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Computer Mapping with GIS software, and satellite images acquired by NASA and use what you learned to conduct hands-on field inquiries within the beautiful and fun McCall environment. First you will learn how to collect spatial information with a GPS and how you import the collected information into GIS software to create maps. You will also learn how to use satellite imagery acquired by NASA to create maps and how you can use your maps in GIS to conduct some geospatial analysis. Finally, you will put your skills to practice when conducting a research project that will rely on some of your newly learned spatial skills. Besides all the fun learning, you will also have time to make new friends and explore and enjoy beautiful Payette Lake and Ponderosa State Park.
