The renewable materials program career tracks gave me a wide range of options to custom-build my degree. By choosing the Business Management track, I will be positioned to become a green building materials supplier and implement ways to increase the longevity of wood-framed homes to meet society’s needs for sustainable building products.

Slade Jacobs, Class of 2012, B.S. Renewable Materials

In a recent survey, 95 percent of respondents in our program revealed they were employed in permanent jobs in green industries or were in graduate school.

The Renewable Materials program gives you access to all the resources and technology in the Biomaterials Lab, where you can explore emerging and innovative concepts in green design and manufacturing.

Welcome

Sustainability, reusability and green building: to renewable materials students and faculty these aren’t buzz words - these are the principles that guide our program.

If you want to help find the solutions to tomorrow's resource, energy and waste material problems, this is the program for you. Upon graduation, you will have the skills and expertise to address the real-world resource problems that we will be wrestling with in the future.

Our renewable materials program is the only such program in the nation that has a fully integrated business component. We deliver an exceptional, well-balanced, educational experience that lands our graduates top positions in green industries. Our curriculum effectively incorporates concepts of business management,  biomaterials science and technology to teach best-practices for product design and construction.

Our program has five career tracks: construction and design, business management, materials acquisition and supply, bio-based materials, and bio-energy. We also offer a Master’s of Science in Natural Resources, (M.S.N.R), and a P.h.D program.
