Meet Our Keynote Speaker
Dale Bosworth earned a bachelor's degree in forestry in 1966 from the University of Idaho College of Natural Resources. He served as the regional forester of the Northern Region (northeastern Washington, northern Idaho, Montana and portions of North Dakota and South Dakota) from 1997-2001 and the Intermountain Region (Utah, Nevada, southern Idaho and western Wyoming) from 1994-97.
In April 2001, Bosworth was named the 15th Chief of the U.S. Forest Service. As chief, Bosworth was responsible for the stewardship of more than 100 national forests and grasslands covering some 194 million acres. In this role, Bosworth also directed the largest natural resources-oriented research program in the world. He retired in 2007 after a 41-year career with the U.S. Forest Service.
Bosworth was born in Altadena, Calif. He is a member of the Society of American Foresters and the Society of Range Management. Dale and his wife, Carma, have two grown children, Kristy and Neil, a daughter-in-law Amy, and a grandson, Reid. Bosworth’s father was a career Forest Service employee, and his son Neil is a district ranger with the Forest Service in Lowman, Idaho.
