Scholarships and Field Experiences
For the fall semester, by meeting our priority enrollment deadline of Feb. 15, you’ll be automatically considered for scholarships if you’re majoring in fisheries, wildlife, forest products, forest resources, ecology and conservation biology, rangeland ecology and management, ecology conservation biology, and resource recreation and tourism. All students are encouraged to indicate their active interest in a scholarship by sending a letter to their department, including their career goals and reason for requesting scholarship assistance.

| Berklund Undergraduate Research Scholar Award | The Curt and Adele Berklund Undergraduate Research Scholar Award recognizes undergraduate research in an applied field of natural resources. Berklund awards may be used to fund a variety of faculty-supervised research activities. Students are encouraged to participate in ongoing faculty research projects in which the student assists a faculty member or graduate student with research in progress. All enrolled undergraduate students in the College of Natural Resources are eligible to apply for the one-year, $2,000 research awards. | All Students |
| BMC West Scholarship | Awarded to deserving students in forest products business management or forest products wood construction and design. Selected students should show leadership potential and proven scholastic ability. | All Students |
| Brent K. Jacobson Memorial Scholarship | Undergraduate and graduate students. Preference given to students interested in conservation law enforcement. Incoming students may apply. | All Students |
| Bud and Ruth Purdy Scholarship | Undergraduates and graduates in rangeland ecology and management or range livestock management. | All Students |
| Charles A. Connaughton Scholarship | For students in forest resources, rangeland ecology and management, conservation social sciences, fish and wildlife. Must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this award. | All Students |
| Clare and Myrtle Hendee, John Hendee and Fran Hendee Scholarship | For students with financial need. | All Students |
| Bradley Gross Memorial Scholarship | Awarded to a range student who shows leadership potential, ability, and love for the outdoors. Financial need is secondary. | All Students |
| Dean Dwight Jeffers Scholarship | Preference will be given to students who have completed their freshman year. Financial need is a consideration. | All Students |
| Edwin W. Tisdale Scholarship | Undergraduates and graduate students with academic excellence in rangeland ecology and management. | All Students |
| Eugene & Alice McHale Scholarship | Students with interest in parks/protected area management, and natural resources conservation. | All Students |
| Experimental Forest Logging Crew Scholarship | Must be a member of the UI experimental forest logging crew. | All Students |

| Idaho Section Range Management Society Scholarship | Students with GPA of 2.70 or higher in rangeland ecology and management. Preference shall be given to students who show potential for achievement. | All Students |

| Jay and Jan Gruenfeld Endowment for Communications, Leadership and Teaching Excellence | Purpose is to provide supplemental funding for high-achieving students to pursue a leadership career, participation in seminars, meetings, workshops, or undergraduate research with the need for financial assistance. Involvement in extracurricular activities in a leadership capacity is a consideration. | All Students |

| Noy E. and Ruby J. Brackett Range Livestock Management Scholarship | Full time enrollment in the Department of Forest, Rangeland, and Fire Sciences or in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Awarded on a basis of eligibility, career potential and financial need (as determined through a submitted FAFSA form). Preference will be given to students that have demonstrated a strong interest in grazing management and the range livestock industry. | All Students |
| Riley Creek Lumber Scholarship | Undergraduates and graduate students with ability and leadership potential. Preference given to students studying forest products, forest resources and fisheries. | All Students |
| Robert C. Heller Scholarship | Preference given to students who emphasize remote sensing/aerial photo interpretation in their programs. | All Students |
| Roger L. Guernsey Forestry Scholarship | For students with five years of residence in Idaho. "Guernsey scholars" will be invited by Roger to plant a tree in the Scholar's Grove at Pinestia. | All Students |
| Society of American Foresters Diversity Scholarship | Enrolled undergraduates or graduates with an interest in forestry or natural resources as a career. Willingness to serve as diversity ambassador to help the diversity committee. Desire to encourage into the forestry profession a variety of people in terms of race, ethnic background, religion, age, gender and disabilities as well as the diversity of geography, employer groups, philosophies and career choices. | Bleak Taylor Ranch Wilderness Internship | Wilderness internships are open to all upcoming juniors, seniors, and returning senior-level University of Idaho students. Interns must be resourceful and self-motivated, enjoy physical work, and have enthusiasm for a variety of tasks both at the field station and in the field.
