Creative Writing Program
The University of Idaho offers a creative writing program that is unique in the country.
Guided by a seven-member faculty of practicing, published writers, master of fine arts students embark on an intense three-year course of study that focuses on teaching and learning the craft of writing.
Students may specialize in poetry, fiction or nonfiction, but are also actively encouraged to work and study outside their usual area of emphasis. Undergraduate students in English may also earn a bachelor of arts with an emphasis in creative writing.
In addition to its degree programs, the Creative Writing Program sponsors a series of literary readings throughout the school year, including readings by distinguished writers who visit the campus for a week and guest teach.
