UI Development Resources

What they do: Corporate and Foundation Relations helps U of I faculty and staff find and apply for funding from corporations and foundations for everything from creative works to research projects. CFR also provides profiles on particular foundations and corporations and offers grant-writing assistance, training and other resources.

When to contact: If you’re interested in finding funding opportunities of all kinds via setting up a Pivot account, or if you’re interested in having the office staff search for possible matches with foundation and corporate and individual donors; the office can also help with proposal development. What they do: Proposal development for federal and government grants (including expertise in grants for researchers within CLASS)

Who should contact them:  Anyone interested in help with writing a competitive internal or external grant proposal

When to contact: Early in the planning or writing/revising process. See timeline.

Office of Research and Economic Development Proposal Development website

What they do: Work in conjunction with faculty-run compliance committees to review and approve research projects that involve animals, humans, potentially infectious materials, Select Agents and Toxins and recombinant DNA activities.

Who should contact them: Anyone whose grant needs research assurances in terms of compliance; for CLASS, this often involves grants with human subjects: see the ORA website for details. The ORA will determine what compliance is necessary.

When to contact: As you begin working on a grant that meets the criteria above

Whom to contact: Arch Harner aharner@uidaho.edu

Office of Research Assurances (ORA) website

What they do: Work with faculty to review and submit proposals to sponsors and to accept and administer awards in conformance with university and sponsor policy.

Who should contact them: Anyone preparing to submit a grant; also, anyone who has successfully gotten a grant and needs help with post-award management.

When to contact: As soon as you know you will be submitting a proposal and a minimum of a week before the submission deadline.

Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) website

What they do: Assists with proposal policies, budget development, and getting started in EIPRS. Reviews and approves proposals. Consults on post-award financial management.

Who should contact: Anyone in CLASS who is submitting a funding request.

When to contact: As soon as you decide to write a proposal. If you require assistance with budget development, contact the Dean’s Office at least two weeks before the granting agency's deadline. Plan for four business days from final submission in EIPRS to the granting agency’s deadline.
