National Board of Certified Counselors
Requirements:
Must be a National Certified Counselor (NCC) or in the application process
Required: 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours), or 500 contact hours of continuing education
All courses must be for graduate credit Group and/or family counseling 2 courses on addictions covering:
- General Drug Terminology
- Specific Drug Information
- Theories of Addiction
- Medical and Psychological Aspects Assessment
- Treatment
- Special Issues
Three years of supervised experience at no less that 20 hours/week References
- Two assessments
- One from a supervisor
- One from a colleague/counseling professional Pass Examination for Master Addictions Counselors (EMAC)
