The primary mission of the Political Science Department is to provide quality undergraduate and graduate education that enables students to analyze, understand and interpret national and international politics, public policy and governmental processes. Our vision is to produce politically articulate students who are prepared to participate in politics and government as citizens, policy makers, and public servants. Through basic and applied research in politics and public administration we seek to broaden the base of knowledge about politics and public administration and serve as an information and advisory resource for state and local government agencies and officials.
The Department of Political Science supports the general goal and objectives of providing a liberal arts education within the land-grant mission of the University of Idaho. The University of Idaho’s land grant mission embodies an enduring educational philosophy that combines practical and liberal education programs to produce citizen professionals prepared to be the next generation of leaders in Idaho and the nation.
