The Preparatory Division offers private instruction and group classes in violin, viola, cello, and double bass for students ages 4 and up. We also offer guitar lessons for older students.
Our bowed strings division offers both Suzuki instruction with our experienced Suzuki teachers, and traditional non-Suzuki instruction with University of Idaho faculty members.
Private students enrolled through the Preparatory Division are also expected to participate in Suzuki group classes, Cantabile Strings Ensemble, or the Greater Palouse Youth Orchestra. Your teacher will tell you more about the specific class he or she would like you to take. This allows students to have fun working and playing with their peers, in an encouraging, positive environment. Additionally, Preparatory Division students have many opportunities to perform in the beautiful University of Idaho Administration Auditorium.
Our faculty have extensive training in string performance and pedagogy, and are supervised by the Director of Strings and Orchestral Instruments, Associate Professor Miranda Wilson. For more information, please contact Professor Wilson: firstname.lastname@example.org.
