Ensembles
Whether you are a music major, minor or non-major, you are invited to be involved in our outstanding performing ensembles! Some of our ensembles require an audition, while many others do not.
Below is a brief description of the various ensembles. Please select "Find Out More" under each ensemble to learn about audition and rehearsal time requirements.
Instrumental Ensembles
University Symphony Orchestra
The University Symphony Orchestra (MusA 122/322/522), directed by Dr. Ferenc Cseszko, is open to all students by audition. The Orchestra plays master works from all musical periods, concentrating on the "classics" of orchestral repertoire.

The University Wind Ensemble (MusA 320/520), directed by Professor Alan Gemberling, is open to all students by audition. It is comprised of about fifty undergraduate and graduate students, and performs the finest in concert band and wind ensemble literature.

The Vandaleer Concert Choir (MusA 116/316/516), directed by Dr. Michael Murphy, is open to all students by audition. Vandaleers performs classical music of all eras and genres, from Gregorian chant to contemporary choral works as well as folk songs and ethnic repertoire from the United States and around the globe.

Jazz Band Ensembles
Jazz Band Ensembles (MusA 323/523) are an integral part of our band program. There are four active bands that are open to both music and non-music majors by audition. Public appearances include numerous campus concerts, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and some travel for off-campus concerts and festivals.
