The Lionel Hampton School of Music offers a variety of undergraduate degrees as well as a minor in music. In addition, we offer Master of Music and Master of Arts degrees. There are numerous majors to choose from, including composition, music education, performance, music history and music theory.
The Bachelor of Music (B.Mus) degree is professionally oriented, and is the normal preparation for graduate study in music or for teacher education. We offer Bachelor of Music majors in Composition, Business, Music Education and Performance.
The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees emphasize a broad liberal-arts education. 45% of your credits will be in music and the remainder will be outside of music. Many students who are pursuing majors in two or more fields select the B.A. or B.S. major. We offer Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science majors in Applied Music, Music History and Literature, and Music Theory.
At the master's level, we offer Master of Music degrees with concentrations in music education, performance (vocal and instrumental), composition, accompanying, and piano pedagogy and performance studies. The Master of Arts option is in music history.
