“Creative Collaborations Between Performers and Composers”
Miranda Wilson, Assistant Professor
Daniel Bukvich, Professor, Lionel Hampton School of Music
February 12
Whitewater Room, Idaho Commons- 12:30 p.m.
Abstract: Prof. Wilson will describe how performers invest tremendous authority in the printed page when it comes to dead composers, but when the composer is living and the composition is incomplete, there is some fluidity and flexibility in what’s written because the performer will often make suggestions that influence the final version. Wilson will illustrate how a performer can be creative by forming an interpretation of the printed page by performing a portion of a Bukvich composition.
