Center for Digital Inquiry and Learning Selects 2018 Fellows

CDIL-Sponsored Palouse Digital Scholarship Symposium Starts This Week

The CDIL's summer workshop series for selected faculty and graduate student fellows starts on Friday and continues throughout the following week. This year the Center for Digital Inquiry and Learning (CDIL) is collaborating with WSU's Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation (CDSC) to jointly host the symposium at U of I and at WSU. Now called the Palouse Digital Scholarship Symposium, the symposium will cover topics such as textual analysis, web publishing and data visualization. Three fellows from U of I were selected to participate: Renae Campbell, doctoral candidate, historical archaeology; Zachary Turpin, assistant professor, English, and Sarah Nelson, associate professor, modern languages and cultures. Each will pair with one of the fellows from WSU to pitch a joint CDSC/CDIL project at the end of the week. Additionally, Denessy Rodriguez ('19) was selected as the undergraduate fellow for the summer and will be attending and supporting the symposium as well.

U of I Launches Africana Studies Minor

Students at the University of Idaho can now earn an interdisciplinary minor in Africana Studies in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. With this minor, students will come to understand the historical, political and social contexts behind contemporary global politics and racial relations. 19 CLASS Students Receive Alumni Excellence Awards

On Friday, Dec. 8, 19 students from the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences will be honored with an Alumni Award for Excellence. This is award is given by the University of Idaho Alumni Association to undergraduate seniors, graduate students and law students who have achieved outstanding academic success and have demonstrated career and professional preparation; campus and community leadership and involvement, or are leaders in the classroom, laboratory, campus and community. CLASS students made up 38 percent of the total award recipients. Read more
