Idaho Repertory Theatre for Youth provides young people with high quality, innovative, participatory theatre arts education and training, taught by theatre professionals and teaching artists. Students learn to: work collaboratively, think creatively, increase self-confidence, and build language arts and performance skills.

Acting the Story: Tales from Around the World
3 Sessions: June 10-14 (Workshop A), June 17-21 (Workshop B), June 24-28 (Workshop C)
9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. plus a showcase presentation of the class play in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm
$125 per session ($115 if registered by 5/17)
Each week we will explore a world culture and create a play based on a tale from that culture. Students will become part of a creative ensemble working together to build a play by exploring theatre games, ensemble building skills, movement, dance, rehearsal and performance! The ensemble will collaboratively create and select masks, costumes, scenery and props for the play. Each week is different so sign up for one session, two sessions or all three! Workshops led by Suzie DuVal and Mindy Curtis.
Grades 4-6
Create a Play Workshop (Workshop D)
June 10-14
9am-12:30pm plus a showcase of the class play presented in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm
$125 ($115 if registered by 5/18)
Experience the theatrical process from beginning to end. Students will work creatively and collaboratively to write, stage, design and rehearse a play that will be performed at the Friday showcase. Come explore being a playwright, director, designer and actor all in one week! Workshop led by Mindy Curtis.
Making a Scene: Design Workshop (Workshop E)
June 17-21
9am-12:30pm plus a showcase of the class work presented in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm
$125 ($115 if registered by 5/18)
Explore how scenery, costumes, lighting and make-up are created for a play. Visit the costume shop, scene shop and lighting booth of the Hartung Theatre and see the designs for the summer production of Jack and the Beanstalk in progress. In the design studio students will read and discuss a script then create a costume design, a make-up design, a set design model and a scenic rendering inspired by the play. Student artwork presented at the Friday showcase. Workshop led by Suzie DuVal.
Young Shakespeareans (Workshop F)
June 24-28
9am-12:30pm plus a showcase of the class work presented in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm

Find out why actors love Shakespeare’s plays! Through the exploration of text analysis, character development, stage combat, period dance and Shakespeare’s life and times students will learn skills that will help unlock the power of Shakespeare’s language, and develop a lasting love for one of the greatest artists the theatre has ever known. Recommended for youth auditioning for IRTY Company: The Merry Wives of Windsor. Workshop led by Zac Curtis.
Grades 7-10
Acting Techniques: Improv Workshop (Workshop G)
June 10-14
9am-12:30pm plus a showcase of the class work presented in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm

Practice the art of improvisation using theatre games, skits and team building exercises to create theatre on the spot! Learn the tools and techniques of the actor through exploration of character, voice and movement. Students will create comic skits and scenarios to be performed at the Friday showcase. Workshop led by Zac Curtis.
Acting Techniques: Scene Study Workshop (Workshop H)
June 17-21
9am-12:30pm plus a showcase of the class scenes presented in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm

Learn about the tools and techniques of the actor by exploring character interpretation, voice and movement, script analysis, acting objectives and character relationships. Scenes rehearsed in class will be presented at the Friday showcase. Workshop led by Zac Curtis.
Play Devising Workshop (Workshop I)
June 24-28
9am-12:30pm plus a showcase of the class play presented in the Hartung Theatre Friday at 5:30pm

Become part of a creative ensemble working together to experience the play creation process! Learn how to use the power of theatre to tell your own story or express your ideas. Students will use theatre games, improvisation and their own personal experiences to create a group performance piece to be shared at the Friday showcase. Workshop led by Mindy Curtis.
