The Distinction in International Service Award (DISA) was first awarded by the students and staff of the Martin Institute in 2011. It recognizes particularly noteworthy accomplishments of internationally-focused nongovernmental organizations based in the Pacific Northwest. The specific criteria for the award shifts somewhat year-by-year as each year’s committee emphasizes certain aspects of an NGO’s efforts and/or approach under a broad umbrella of distinctive service abroad.
