Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies Minor

Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is an interdisciplinary academic field devoted to the study of gender and sexuality and feminist theory and research, including as these topics relate to social history, public health, communication, and the arts and popular culture. The Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies interdisciplinary minor includes courses from a range of disciplines and allows students to develop critical thinking skills in relation to feminism and the social construction of cultural identities, such as gender, sexual identity, age, and race and ethnicity. Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies is a field that attracts students of all sexes, and is wonderful preparation for any workplace.

While you do not have to meet with an advisor for your minor prior to registering, co-directors (Gita Neupane, Lysa Salsbury or Alexandra Teague) are happy to set up an advising appointment if you’d like to chat about WGSS. Many courses have pre-requisites which can be waived for WGSS students. If you are interested in a course that has a pre-req, contact the instructor directly for the class. Tell them you are a WGSS student and ask if the pre-req can be waived. If there is a special topics course, independent study, or other course that seems WGSS relevant, but is not listed below, contact one of the co-directors (Gita Neupane, Lysa Salsbury or Alexandra Teague)  to ask permission for it to count for your WGSS credits.
