A university education is a preparation for both living and for making a living. It offers an opportunity to lay the foundations of a career, as well as to obtain the power to reason, gain intellectual curiosity, and cultivate imagination. Ultimately, your education should be a life-long journey.
All students must complete the necessary coursework in four categories as their General Education requirement. This requirement is satisfied by earning the minimum number of credits specified for each category.
- Communications (5-7 credits)
- Natural and Applied Science (7-8 credits)
- Math, Statistics or Computer Science (3 credits)
- General Core Studies (18 credits which includes Core Discovery, Humanities, Social Sciences, and International courses
As General Studies students we encourage you to use these General Education requirements to explore an area of interest! Selecting courses that you may be interested in will offer wide exposure to various UI programs. Work with your advisor in selecting courses and exploring a major.
