The transition to college can be a time full of anxiety for new college students. One of the major sources of anxiety for students is being undecided about the major they should pursue. In the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, we can help undecided students make a smooth transition while they explore their opportunities at the University of Idaho. First and second year General Studies majors are assigned to a Professional Academic Advisor that will help guide them through course selection and major exploration while also being their connection to the university.
Academic Advising is a relationship in which the student and advisor are partners in planning academic, personal and career goals. This partnership requires proactive participation and involvement by both parties. Both parties have clear responsibilities for ensuring that this partnership is successful.
First and second year students that have declared General Studies as their major will be assigned to Kristi Overfelt.
The General Studies Advising suite is located in the Idaho Commons room 215.
