First Year Scheduling Suggestions - Important classes to complete your first year
For specific scheduling questions, see your advisor.
- 3 credits introductory English—ENGL 101 or 102 depending upon placement. For placement guidelines see the Writing Placement Page.
- 3 credits of English 215—prerequisite ENGL 101 but may be completed concurrently with ENGL 102
- 3 credits of Literature of Western Civilization I or II—ENGL 257 or 258 (they don’t have to be taken in sequence)
- 4-5 credits of a foreign language—4 credit class, 1 credit language lab.
- 3 credits of an Integrated Seminar—required for first year students during either Fall or Spring semester.
- 3-4 credits of Math, Computer Science, Statistics, or Science
- 3 credits of a Social Science—choose from a list of core curriculum courses in such disciplines as Anthropology, History, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or Economics. See the Course Catalog for undergraduate general education and degree requirements.
