Funding
Teaching assistant stipends change from year to year. For the 2012-2013 year, the stipend is $13,000, with a remission of all non-resident fees. In addition, the department will normally award a Grace V. Nixon Scholarship ($1,000 to $1,500) to TAs, which are renewable throughout the candidate's three-year course of study.
Scholarships and Fellowships
There are a number of scholarships and fellowships available for our MFA students. These include university travel awards, departmental scholarships, MFA fellowships and MFA workshop and writing retreat fellowships. Please visit our graduate scholarship page for a full accounting of available support.
Estimated costs
Approximately 75% of our students have teaching assistantships, with half of these receiving in-state fee waivers. Please note that these are approximate numbers.
