Welcome to the University of Idaho’s Department of English. We offer courses that cover a broad variety of writers, genres, and texts, ranging from practical considerations of craft to theoretical inquiries about interpretation.
We offer five degree programs--a B.A. degree in English (with four different emphases to choose from: Literature, Creative Writing, Professional, and Teaching); an M.F.A. in Creative Writing; an M.A. degree in English; an M.A. degree in Teaching English as a Second Language; and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
Faculty, staff, and students form a unique social community. Poetry and fiction readings, lectures and presentations by other students and faculty members, events sponsored by the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta, receptions and book signings for visiting authors--all help draw us together as a department.
