During the economic reform of the 1980s, three undergraduates - a hillbilly who refuses to accept his destiny of being a farmer, a self-confident cynical intellectual, and a romantic poet - are bound together by a common ambition to live the American dream. Coming from different backgrounds, the trio hatch an idea: creating a new system for teaching English to the tens of millions of Chinese eager for the advantages fluency brings.

Directed by Peter Chan
