A beautiful poem ignites a love affair between artist Zhou Yu and a government worker named Chen Qing. Even though they are separated by a great distance, Zhou Yu takes the train out of China's rural Northwest to see Chen Qing every weekend. But Zhou Yu's strong will and Chen Qing's sensitive soul are mismatched and one day a chance encounter on the train with a hedonistic man named Zhang Qiang pulls the three into a love triangle of conflict, desire, and uncertainty.
