High School
Art Exhibition
The University of Idaho Department Art annually invites students from each high school in the state of Idaho to participate in a professional exhibition at Ridenbaugh Hall Gallery on the UI campus. The exhibit is juried and cash awards are given to works of merit.
This year's exhibit will again coincide with the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival when over 1,00 high school students are on campus. The Eleventh Annual High School Art Exhibition will be held February 14-23, 2002. An Awards reception will be held Thursday, February 21 from 4-6 p.m.
The theme of this year's exhibition is "A World of Difference". All high schools will receive participation information in October and again in December.
UI Art Department of Art begin a pilot online degree program designed for certified teachers who wish to strengthen their experience in studio art.
Vision 2001
Designing an Internet that is Accessible for Everyone
UI Art faculty member Colleen Taugher will present a paper at the Vision 2001 Conference, "What you need to know about clients who are blind or have low vision" sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (UWM) School of Allied Health Professionals, October 2001.Byron Clercx recently participated in a three person exhibit Information/Transformation at the Yellowstone Art Museum. Here are two images from his installation. The suspended canoe form is fashioned out of carved books, with painted wooden paddles (also suspended) to match the blue walls.
Artists and Educators share many of the same goals for effective communication with their audience and students. It is therefore helpful for us to examine some successful new approaches that contemporary artists are experimenting with in the online delivery of their artwork with an eye to its application for the online delivery of academic material.
