Outreach
The Auditorium Chamber Music Series brings its visiting musicians into schools and communities throughout the area. Reaching over a thousand individuals each year, our outreach activities include the annual Young People's Concert and Palouse Chamber Music Workshop as well as several university masterclasses and community events such as mini-concerts, coaching sessions, and presentations in venues ranging from retirement homes, schools, and community centers.
To collaborate or participate in these events, follow ACMS on Facebook and Instagram or reach out to our team at chmusic@uidaho.edu or 208-885-7557.
Workshop
The Palouse Chamber Music Workshop brings about 50 regional musicians together with regional coaches in preparation for a day-long workshop with a visiting string quartet. In recent years, participants have worked with such renowned ensembles as the Pacifica, Enso, St. Lawrence and Ying string quartets.
Community Events
Each year, ACMS hosts a number of community outreach events that provide world-class performances in the Palouse region with a personal touch. Previous events have included our Children's Rug Concert for toddlers at the 1912 Center, afternoon mini-concerts and artist chats for the general public at the Moscow Public Library, soirées for our incredible donors at Bloom Café, performances at assisted living centers, and much more.
In short, we love our community! If you are interested in partnering with ACMS for an event, please reach out to our team at chmusic@uidaho.edu or 208-885-7557.
University Masterclasses
ACMS provides U of I Lionel Hampton School of Music Students and community members the opportunity to work with visiting artists in several masterclasses and workshops each year.
These sessions include composition seminars, individual instrument and voice masterclasses, chamber ensemble presentations, music history and business discussions, and more.
"Being able to attend masterclasses with world-class musicians in our little town of Moscow, Idaho is an amazing opportunity. The exposure we get to the 'outside' music world is so important, and it has always left me inspired and refreshed in my own music journey." - Carlee Vigesaa, LHSOM student
Young People's Concert
The Auditorium Chamber Music Series hosts an annual Young People's Concert for 5th graders in the Palouse region. Students in attendance have the chance to hear world-class performances and learn about all different aspects of music from inspirational artists.
Artist groups that have presented the YPC have included the American Brass Quintet, Ying String Quartet, Prism Saxophone Quartet, London Handel Players, Deviant Septet, Imani Winds, and more.
Over 400 elementary school students attended the 2019 Young People's Concert featuring Imani Winds. When asked at the beginning of the concert how many students were interested in playing an instrument in band or orchestra, less than a third of hands went up. At the end of the concert, the question was asked again - nearly all hands were raised.
If you have 5th graders who would like to join us for our upcoming Young People's Concert, please reach out to our ACMS team at chmusic@uidaho.edu or 208-885-7557.
