THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO LIBRARY

The University of Idaho Library Web site

Getting a library card is easy...

Note: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID NUMBER AND VANDALMAIL ADDRESS TO REGISTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO LIBRARY. To get your Student ID #, you must go to the University of Idaho office (M-F, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the Fall/Spring, M-F 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Summer) at 1031 N. Academic Way, Coeur d'Alene. You must have a picture ID with you (e.g., Driver’s License). You also must have a VandalMail e-mail account. All UI students have access to VandalMail. Contact our office for more information.

If you DO have your University of Idaho VandalCard:

Call the University of Idaho Library at (208) 885-6559 or (208) 885-6843 to register your 14-digit, Vandal ID card bar code number into the library system. This will give you full access to University of Idaho Library databases and ILL services, in addition to check-out privileges. After you are registered through the University of Idaho Library, you also will have full access to North Idaho College Library check-out services, and to NIC databases while on the NIC campus.

If you
DO NOT have a University of Idaho VandalCard, but you do know your Student ID Number and your VandalMail Address:

Call the University of Idaho Library at (208) 885-6843 or (208) 885-6559 and have your Student ID Number and VandalMail address ready. They will issue you a special library card and register you in the system. Your library card will be mailed to you, and you will usually receive it within two or three days. This will give you full access to University of Idaho Library databases and ILL services, in addition to check-out privileges. After you are registered through the University of Idaho Library, you also will have full access to North Idaho College Library check-out services, and to NIC databases while on the NIC campus. NIC Library will check-out items to you without your card until you have received it in the mail.

To register, you may go to the University of Idaho Office located at 1000 W Hubbard Ave. They will let you use a phone to call the University of Idaho Library at no charge. The library does have a toll-free number available when the reference desk is staffed (1-800-294-8097), but you will need to ask to be transferred to the circulation desk (direct line, 208-885-6559).
