About the Program
Students with special needs generally have learning disabilities, mental conditions or other disabling conditions that require special equipment, materials and teaching procedures. A graduate degree in special education prepares you for a rewarding career providing services to those with special needs or training others to work with students with special needs. Graduates of this program are in high demand nationwide.

The program's curricula are a blend of academic and experiential course work with considerable emphasis on supervised practicum and internship placements in regional schools. The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, and its school preparation programs are approved by the State Board of Education. The programs meet certification requirements in Idaho, those of most other states, and the requirements of the various accrediting agencies such as the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities.
