Program curricula are a blend of academic and experiential course work with considerable emphases on supervised practicum and internship placements in regional schools. The College of Education is fully accredited by the National Counsel for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, and its school preparation programs are approved by the State Board of Education. The programs meet certification requirements in Idaho, those of most other states, and the requirements of the various accrediting agencies such as the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities.

Includes a minimum of 3 credit hours in each of the areas of foundations of/or developmental reading, content area reading, corrective/diagnostic/remedial reading, psycholinguistics/language development and reading, literature for children or adolescents, and writing. The remaining 2 credit hours may be taken from related areas. Students must also pass the Praxis II (reading specialist) and the ICLA 1, 2, 3.
