CBE Grads in the Workforce: Chris Claflin

Last spring, we asked some of our soon-to-be graduates to describe their CBE experience and to tell us about their plans following their May 2008 graduation. These are their stories.

Chris Claflin
The Boeing Company

"I appreciate how the College of Business and Economics really plunges you into life after graduation far before you graduate. In the last four years, I had several applied learning opportunities. I have had many hands-on projects in the Integrated Business Curriculum (IBC). In my systems and simulation class, I took on a project with Boeing’s wing division that demanded the same level of responsibility and degree of intensity that I will face after graduation. I have had several opportunities to network with CEOs. I have also toured and interacted with several companies all over the Pacific Northwest to better understand how they do what they do and what they look for when hiring employees.

"The curriculum prepares you for life after college by fostering critical thinking and forcing you to apply what you learn to everyday situations. Whether I am standing in line at the grocery store or taking a tour of a company’s operations in Seattle or Portland, I am constantly applying what I have learned in the classroom to my surroundings. My education at the College of Business and Economics at the University of Idaho has prepared me to compete just as well as anyone out there in today’s very competitive job market."
