C. W. Moore Scholarship Recipient
"My name is Gretchen Bailey, and I grew up in a very small mining town – Wallace, Idaho. My graduating class had 39 students! I am majoring in business finance at the University of Idaho and plan on graduating this spring. When I was in high school, I attended Idaho Business Week at the University of Idaho. Participating in this program introduced me to the University of Idaho and the College of Business and Economics. I was very impressed with the program, and I knew that I would get a good education – this is why I chose the University of Idaho. Also, my decision was influenced by how close the university is to my hometown; I am able to go home on weekends with minimal travel time (2.5 hours). "After I graduate in May 2008, I plan to work in the Coeur d’Alene office of Waddell & Reed. I had an internship with Waddell & Reed during the summer and decided that I wanted to pursue a career with the company. Receiving my scholarships has meant the world to me, especially the C.W. Moore Scholarship. I have been fortunate to receive enough scholarship money each year that I have not had to take out any loans and will be graduating without any debt! I am very thankful for the C.W. Moore Scholarship as well as scholarships from my hometown; they have helped me finance my schooling and have allowed me to focus on my studies."
